　　Some people believe children are given too much free time and they should spend it on doing school work. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

　　Because of the enormous advancement of society, people these days attach more importance to education, children's education in particular. Some people reckon that children are supposed to use their free time to study schoolwork so as to achieve better academic results. I disagree with this.

　　It is acknowledged that studying is of great significance to children as it can not only help them gain knowledge and then acquire a better understanding of the world they are in but also prepare them for their future career and life.

　　Still, children should not spend all of their spare time on studying. First and foremost, children like all the other human beings need free time to relax in order to have a good status to deal with their study and other things such as making friends in life. Apparently, in this competitive world, even children suffer from

　　peer pressure as well as stress from parents. In order to be able to concentrate on study, they should be offered enough free time to release the aforementioned stress.

　　Apart from that, it is undeniable that free time enables children to have plenty of opportunities to explore their interests and this world. Children generally spend their free time watching TV programs, reading and hanging out with their friends and etc.. By doing these in their free time, they learn interpersonal skills, develop their hobbies and know more and better of their surroundings. All these are beneficial to their future life and these can also help them to become useful members of society.

　　To sum up, children should be given a certain amount of free time to do things that they like. This is not only because they can gain many useful skills but also because they can alleviate the pressure they have via the activities they have during free time. Studying is never the only important thing in children's life as to children learning other things and enjoying childhood are just equally important as studying.
